Folk Dance Group "Ślązaczek"

Children Folk Dance Group "Ślązaczek" acts by the Youth Palace (Pałac Młodzieży) in Katowice. Concert road of the team Ślązaczek is very rich. The group is speaking at frequent parties of cultured Choirs organised by the Palace of Young people, the Office of the City, the Silesian Stage or the Connection and Orchestras, so as: Silesian Gody, Pokoju Europe, Trojak Śląski, International Folk Meetings.

It also participates in charity concerts organized by PCK (Polish Red Cross) to popularize the idea of blood donation and help for the disabled.

"Ślązaczek" received the row of distinctions and awards in inspections, competitions and festivals.Most important from them it: - Second place on the International Festival of "Small Dominik" in Gdańsk (2003);
- Second place on the 3rd All-Poland Dance Meetings in Częstochowa (2004);
- Title of the winner on the 2nd Festival of Teams Dance about "Laur Rzecha" in Rzeszów (2005);
- First place on the European Festival of "Small Dominik" in Gdańsk (2006);
- Title of the winner on the 3nd Festival of Teams Dance about "Laur Rzecha" in Rzeszów (2006);

"Ślązaczek" has also been giving concerts popularizing Polish folklore abroad:
- in Bratislava (Slovakia, 1995);
- in Tiszafured (Hungary, 1999);
- in Large Tyrnow (Bulgaria, 2001);
- in Ostrava (Czechy, 2002);
- in Primorsko (Bulgaria, 2007);
- in Giresun (Turkey, 2008).

In Bulgaria during the "Balkan Folk - 2001" festival was hailed by the local press as "the festival's discovery".

In its creative search Ślązaczek is trying to gain its own artistic expression combining in new performances authentic folk elements with a theatrical form.

Present repertoire of the group is including songs and dances from southern and central regions of Poland, using natural, authentic costumes and elements of folk ceremonies. In the performances the authors are trying to include interesting, original pictures depicting the country and urban folklore.

In its repertoire can be found: the "Rozbarska" suite based on the native folklore of the Upper Silesia, the "Łowicz" and "Lublin" suites, the dances of Rzeszów and Beskid Śląski as well as national dances: the Polonaise and the Native of Cracow.
